Competition Continues in the MUSD Academic League on April 10 and May 8

 

(Maricopa, Ariz.) – The results of the first two rounds are in and Maricopa Unified School District (MUSD) is now readying their teams of fourth and fifth grade students for the final two competitions in this year’s Academic League. Now in its sixth year, each elementary school creates two teams of eight-10 students who then face off against the other teams’ academic prowess in grammar, spelling, social studies, science and math.

 

“This is has been a great way to not only let the students have fun learning, but also for them to utilize their knowledge and be proud of their skills,” said MUSD Academic Coach Janet Stensgard. “Having both the schools and the children’s families’ involvement and support means a lot and these competitions continually help nurture the positive learning environment we strive to make here at MUSD.”

 

Details for the next competition, to be held on Tuesday, April 10, in addition to the Academic Finals on Tuesday, May 8, are as follows:

 

Competition # 3:   Tuesday, April 10, 2012 @ 3:30pm

Pima Butte will host Santa Cruz

Saddleback will host Butterfield

Maricopa Elementary will host Santa Rosa

 

Academic Finals:  Tuesday, May 8, 2012 @ 3:30pm

Butterfield Elementary

 

Pima Butte, Butterfield and Saddleback Elementary won the first competition at both the 4th and 5th grade levels in January, and Santa Rosa, Pima Butte and Santa Cruz Elementary took the winning positions in the 4th and 5th grade levels in February.
