Columbia Sportswear Recalls Heated Jackets

Columbia Sportswear Co. recalled 10,240 jackets because a heating element present in seven of its jacket styles can overheat and pose a burn hazard.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reports the problem involves the overheating of the inner wrist cuff on the jackets. The company learned of the potential defect with the heating element after getting reports of overheating jackets from Canada and UK.

Hospira Recalls IV Solution over Mold Concerns

Hospira Inc. initiated a nationwide recall for one lot of an intravenous solution after receiving a customer report of a spore-like matter resembling a mold found in the solution.

The recalled product is called Lactated Ringers and 5% Dextrose Injection, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Implus Footcare Recalls Resistance Bands

Implus Footcare, in collaboration with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), issued a voluntary recall of 75,600 Perfect Resistance Bands over potential injury hazards.

These resistance bands, manufactured in China by Dalps & Leisure Products Supply Corp, No. 5, are made of rubber tubes attached through a hole and fixed by grommets to cloth stitched into loops. The recalled bands may separate from the cloth loops and injure the user and those nearby, said the CPSC.

Ford Recalls Escape and Fusion Over Engine Fires

Over 89,000 new Escape SUVs and Fusion sedans from the 2013 model year have been recalled by Ford Motor Co. over reports of engine fires.

The Associated Press (AP) reports that Ford said that the engines can overheat and leak fluids onto hot parts and cause fires. The company is investigating the reasons behind the overheating problem.

So far there have been 12 fires reported in Escapes and one in a Fusion but no one has been injured to date.
