Del Webb Orlando Residents Partner with Local “Green Bag Project” to Provide Food for Needy School Children

ORLANDO, Fla. – Residents of Del Webb Orlando, the award-winning active adult community located on Ridgewood Lakes Blvd. in Davenport just south of Orlando, have volunteered to assist the Green Bag Project, a registered 501(c)3 charitable organization that is currently providing food to more than 450 hungry children in Osceola and Polk Counties.

Competition Heats Up After Third Round of MUSD Academic League, Finals on May 8

(Maricopa, Ariz.) – The results of the third round are in and Maricopa Unified School District (MUSD) is now readying their teams of fourth and fifth grade students for the final competition in this year’s Academic League.

Due to unprecedented budget cuts, Maplewood Elementary may be forced to lose Elin Kordahl, the Oregon Association of Schools Elementary Librarian of the Year, 2010-2011.  Her position has been reduced to .5 effectively cutting Maplewood's library and technology programs in half.  A dedicated group of volunteers has come together to raise funds to save her position but with the deadline for needed funds looming, the Maplewood community is facing the possibility that Elin may not be employed at Maplewood next school year.  Maplewood has seen an increase in donor participation r

Rhodes+Brito Architects Awarded Contracts to Design New Schools for Eccleston and Washington Shores Elementary Schools

ORLANDO, Fla. --- Rhodes+Brito Architects, based in Orlando was recently awarded a contract to design new Orlando area elementary schools at Eccleston Elementary School, 1500 Aaron Ave., and Washington Shores Elementary School, 944 W. Lake Mann Drive.

Ruffin Rhodes, co-founder and partner at Rhodes+Brito Architects, said both projects are budgeted at $10 million.

The project will include a complete replacement of both Eccleston Elementary and Washington Shores schools. 

The replacement project for Eccleston will start construction this August.  

Competition Continues in the MUSD Academic League on April 10 and May 8

Now in its sixth year, each elementary school creates two teams of eight-10 students who then face off against the other teams’ academic prowess in grammar, spelling, social studies, science and math.
