The Swedish financial markets are functioning well despite the continued uncertainty in the euro area, according to the market participants who responded to the Riksbank's risk survey in spring 2013. It is still developments in the euro area that comprise the main risk to the Swedish financial system in the coming period. The majority of the respondents therefore believe that their propensity and possibility to take on risk will remain unchanged in the coming period.

EU council directive 2010/32/EU for the prevention of sharp injuries now in force as from May 11, 2013

The directive, which was implemented on 11 May 2013, calls for increased operator safety when handling sharp devices. To ensure compliance, sharp devices must incorporate safety-engineered protection mechanisms, and hospitals are required to implement procedures for the safe use and disposal of medical sharps.

Cybercom wins major order from the Finnish National Board of Education

The Finnish National Board of Education has chosen Cybercom Finland for assignments estimated to be worth around euro 6.9 million. The order involves educational e-services during four years.  

Sale of paper machine in Gävle

In order to satisfy one of the conditions set by the EU Commission for approval of the combination between Billerud and Korsnäs, an agreement has been signed with SwedPaper AB ("SwedPaper") concerning divestment of a paper machine (PM2) at the Gävle production unit. Production at PM2 in 2012 accounted for approximately 2% of BillerudKorsnäs’ total combined sales volume.

Nanodevice project coordinated by Finland is a European success story

The European Commission has labelled the NANODEVICE project, co-ordinated by the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health (FIOH), a success story. The project produced affordable measuring devices for determining the concentrations of nanoparticles in the air. The new NANOSOLUTIONS project is another potential success story, with its aim to create a completely new way of evaluating the health hazards of industrial nanoparticles.
